The fastest-charging EV in the world, Zeekr 7X, has been showcased in China, and it truly shames other manufacturers like Tesla.

Tesla has led the way for charging in the EV industry so far, flying the flag with its Superchargers.

But over in China, one brand has now obliterated all records for charging speeds.

The fastest-charging EV in the world is now the Zeekr 7X, and its speed leaves Tesla rosy-faced.

Incredible Chinese EV charger juices up in record time

It very well could be the bane of most EV owners’ lives: That dreaded wait whilst you’re parked up in a random station to recharge your battery. What takes 45 minutes, really feels like four hours.

While EVs can save you a fortune, the long waits to recharge are the biggest gripe for most users switching over from the 90-second gas fill-ups.

But technology is quickly advancing, and now China has produced the Zeekr 7X which has smashed all charging records.

The Chinese SUV appears to be nothing out of the ordinary, coming in like a Kia Sportage or Vauxhall Mokka in appearance.

But its ‘golden brick’ charger is the real winner.

Zeekr

Showcased by Out of Spec Reviews, this mind-boggling piece of kit can fully charge the Zeekr 7X electric car from 0-100 percent in 22 minutes flat.

It is currently being hailed as the fastest-charging EV in the world.

The charger held a concurrent 300kw for the entire charge, peaking at nearly 500kw at certain points of the charge.

To put that into perspective, the US has only just rolled out its 400kw chargers around the country, including Tesla’s Supercharger, which was considered groundbreaking.

“It is embarrassing for every other automaker, even Porsche,” the Out of Spec reviews host said.

The closest competitor for SUVs so far is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, which can charge from 0-80 percent in 18 minutes with its own charger, although the last 20 percent is much slower.

The Zeekr 7X hit 80 percent after 12 minutes, leaving the final 20 percent taking 10 minutes.

Usually, the KWs are reduced at the end of a charge due to fears the battery can overcook.

There is stiff competition from Lotus too, although the record-breaking fastest-charging EV in America still comes in shy of the Zeekr 7X too, with a 14-minute 0-80% time.

The Chinese technology will certainly want to be adopted around the world, or replicated at least.

Many EV drivers are becoming exasperated by the long waits, so much so that they are switching back to harmful combustion engines.

So, there’s no doubt EV drivers will be keen to embrace the technology.
