Hillary Clinton has revealed the reason she hasn’t driven a car since the mid-1990s.
The former US Secretary of State and First Lady hasn’t been behind the wheel in almost three decades.
Having spent time in government, her automotive endeavours were cut short by strict protective measures.
The 77-year-old has now admitted that she regrets not being able to drive since 1996.

But one former member of the White House, Hillary Clinton, has revealed that she hasn’t actually sat in the driver’s seat in 29 years.
Speaking at the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans, the politician made the shocking revelation.
There, she claimed that the Secret Service is the main reason she hasn’t sat behind the wheel since her husband, Bill Clinton, served his first term as president.
“One of the regrets I have about my public life is that I can’t drive anymore,” she said.

It turns out that her husband misses it too and reportedly asks to drive a golf cart when playing on the course to get a feel of the need for speed again.
Clinton was the first lady of the US when her husband was president, and was ferried about in protection by the Secret Service.
The service itself stated that: “Permanent protectees, such as the president and vice president, have special agents permanently assigned to them.
“Temporary protectees — such as presidential and vice presidential candidates or nominees and foreign heads of state — are staffed with special agents on temporary assignment from our field offices.”
Alongside this, the service says that protection for the President and Vice President is ‘mandatory’, and other people can choose not to be under its protection.

Ever-evolving threats mean that protection is always offered, as safety needs to be a priority.
The White House has a variety of transport means available, too, like this yacht that was used by five different US presidents.
The way the Beast is transported has also been revealed, and it’s confirmed Air Force One doesn’t carry it.
