Hikers in Philadelphia were perplexed to find a Porsche Panamera mysteriously blocking trail in the woods

Hikers in Philadelphia took to YouTube to show their bemusement at finding an abandoned $100k Porsche Panamera mysteriously blocking the trail in the woods.

The Porsche Panamera is, admittedly, one of the marque’s bigger and braver cars.

But it’s still a sports car, and is way off being an American off-road vehicle.

Which makes it all the more perplexing as to why someone would leave one parked in the middle of a nature reserve.

When it comes to abandoned cars in the woods, most are old bangers in need of huge restoration projects.

Recently, we’ve seen a 1979 Chevy C10 get uncovered in the forests of Minnesota, while an ancient Pontiac Chieftain in Tennessee was found to have its original paperwork inside despite decades being dormant.

But it seems that folks in Philadelphia don’t have to worry about the bog-standard old American muscle cars rotting away, but rather the six-figure cars.

That’s what was awaiting these hikers as they came across a Porsche Panamera abandoned in the middle of the trail.

The Philadelphia Inquirer

Taking to a Facebook page, one lady called Kayley Clare posted a picture of the Panamera sitting on the muddy path of Wissahickon Valley Park.

The typical jibe of ‘you can’t park there, pal’ was the top comment, but it did beg many questions. How did it get there? Is anyone missing a $100k car?

Highlighted in The Philadelphia Inquirer, the car was found to be the possession of an 84-year-old man, who’d taken a series of wrong turns in the park before getting out and calling for help.

According to the outlet, the roads are roughly three feet wide.

Which means that while the elderly man was clearly not adept in his sense of direction, there’s little wrong with his driving ability – he was able to get one mile deep into the park without a scratch on his Porsche Panamera.

This was echoed by some of the commenters, too.

“That took some maneuvering! I’m not even mad,” one person said.

A video posted to social media revealed that it took an ATV to drag the car loose.

Fortunately, the Philadelphia man was reportedly unharmed, as was the car and the nature park.

On the other hand, he might have missed a calling in his earlier life to be a rally driver, with clear expertise at cruising through such tight corners with ease.

At least he was only one mile away, not unlike this woman whose GPS led her 900 miles and five countries away from where she should have been going.
