But, it wasn’t an easy task as the car was in a bad way.

They snapped up the SUV for $179,000 and aimed to give it a new lease of life.

But what damage did the car actually have? Let’s have a look, shall we?

Mercedes is known for building a powerful fleet of cars

From daily drivers to big beasts, Mercedes is loved around the globe.

It even honored two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer with a unique car ahead of the Masters taking place in Augusta, Georgia, this week.

If that wasn’t enough to impress you, Mercedes AMG’s upcoming electric supercar concept could become one of the fastest vehicles in its history.

But, as with all machines, things can sometimes go wrong, which is what happened with this car.

The car was taken on by the guys over on the Chris Slix YouTube channel, who aimed to give the wreckage a new lease of life after it was hit by a tree.

The car was found on Copart, a platform where people can buy used vehicles, and was listed as having no engine – all for the relatively small sum of $179,000 (£140,000).

But Chris and the team had a plan to investigate the real damage.

After opening up the hood, they found an engine inside – which was a relief – but the real test was seeing how badly damaged it was.

The fact was only found out after two battery faults displayed on the dash, which let’s face it, wasn’t the most ideal scenario to be faced with.

Nonetheless, the guys got to work investigating the SUV for all the damage points to figure out just what needed fixing.

They began ripping the car apart and pushed off the main body of the car, intending to remove the crash bar and radio pack.

But, more damage in the form of a gash in the fuel tank was discovered, adding another layer of difficulty alongside a broken steering rack.

Inside – as you’d suspect – the car was equally as mangled, with airbags completely gone, which was no surprise.

Plus, to throw another spanner in the works, the dash was in a different language and the team suspected the use of foreign fuel too, posing questions to the car’s accurate history and where the tree incident took place.

All was not lost as he managed to source some parts and was ready to start rebuilding the car back to its former working state.

Keep your eyes peeled as the rebuild continues, but for now, catch the latest below.
