GTA 6’s release is still set for fall 2025
At the time of writing, Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two are sticking to their fall 2025 release window for the game.
The parent company has insisted that it still has a realistic release date, and CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said to IGN that he ‘feels really good’ about fall 2025.
So far, Rockstar and Take-Two are keeping details a closely guarded secret.
After the roaring success of the first trailer in 2024, we are still waiting for the second to drop.
It shows how much of a giant the game is when just the second trailer is one of the most talked about subjects in the gaming world.
The gap between trailers has also led to lots of speculation among fans. However, it would appear they may not have to worry. EA on the other hand may have to.
EA is watching the release of GTA 6 very closely
Currently, EA has the release of the next Battlefield down for the 2026 fiscal year, which is before April 2026.
That puts it firmly in the sights of GTA 6, so it may have to juggle the release of its next big title.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in a recent financial call that ‘there may be some things happening in the year that may cause us to think differently about our launch timing.’
This clearly alludes to the anticipated launch of Rockstar’s latest flagship title.
The next Battlefield also has a lot to live up to.
After the monumental success of Battlefield 1 in 2016, the latest release of Battlefield 2042 in 2021 was lukewarm at best.
Battlefield V in 2018 didn’t have quite the same reception, but due to 2042’s shortcomings, it has become much more appreciated over time.
Like GTA 6, the next game in that series is going to have to justify all the hype.
