Having been shrouded in mystery since it was announced, the new Toyota supercar headlined the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with Formula 1 drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman behind the wheel.

The Haas duo are no strangers to speedy cars and Japanese motors, especially Ocon, whose F1 skills are matched by his rally experience.

But now, both of the drivers have been given the chance to debut the mysterious new Toyota supercar at Goodwood.

And it appears that they love it.

Toyota’s supercar game is about to undergo a huge upheaval as the Supra is going out in style after 45 years.

Instead, the Japanese manufacturer has moved on to a new range. But it’s been very tight-lipped about what we can expect.

Which is why it left so many people scratching their heads when the unnamed new Toyota supercar and its GT upgrade took to the tracks at Goodwood.

So little is known about the car that it’s not even confirmed what engine is under the hood.

But the F1 Haas duo of Ocon and Bearman have now come out and confessed their love for it after driving it around the Goodwood track.

Speaking to Motorsport, Ocon said:

“It was a lot of fun. It’s a fantastic car to drive, honestly.

“It’s incredibly fast, incredibly capable, and a big thank you to Toyota for trusting us driving these beasts today.”

The drivers showcased the car in a friendly lap, where people guessed that a V8 engine was doing the purring.

The #Toyota GT Concepts have been turning heads all weekend long #FOS 2025, and we still hardly know anything about it! Maybe Esteban Ocon & Ollie Bearman could shed some light on what lurks beneath the hood of these two eye-catching cars, after they blasted up the #FOS Hill one… pic.twitter.com/05ZX6AUxMc

The new Toyota supercar pairing was pushed around the track in flying laps over the weekend, too. And the Formula 1 drivers were impressed by its power, rumoured to be over 900hp.

Bearman elaborated on the experience:

“The GT is definitely a bit faster, but both are amazing cars in their own right.

“You know, in F1, we’re not really pushing. We have a few too many horsepower and missing a bit of rubber – let’s say at the rear tyres – to push.

“But with the GT car, it really – that track comes alive, and I really, really enjoyed it.

“It was the first time I actually pushed around Goodwood, and I really, really had fun.”

Esteban Ocon is a Toyota stan as he takes up rallying

It’s no surprise that rally driving comes naturally to Formula 1 drivers, especially as legends of the game like Daniel Ricciardo have showcased off-road skills in Red Bull cars before.

Esteban Ocon is no different, as he also took the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Toyota rally car.

And make no mistake, he was a natural.

It seems they can do it all.

Toyota

As for the supercars, it appears that the road-legal version will fall under Lexus’ branch while the GT will be strictly Toyota.

Both cars are expected to officially arrive in 2026.
