We all know that airplanes need huge wings to help them navigate the skies safely. But what happens when the plane has blended wings instead?
Well, San Diego-based company Natilus has released more interesting information about its blended wing body aircraft called Horizon. And, well, Boeing better watch out.
Thanks to clever designs and technology, the plane could carry 200 passengers and even reportedly offers up to 40 percent more space than a Boeing 737 MAX8.
The range of the blended wing body aircraft is a whopping 3500NM with a payload of 25 tons.
But, when it comes to seating, things really start to get interesting, as the first-ever look inside the cabin proves.
The plane is set to have ‘Delxue Club Seating’, which means that a family of four can sit ‘two-by-two facing each other’, taking away the nightmare middle seat issues usually encountered in the sky.
Plus, in a first, the Horizon plane will even include three video conference pods that can double as conference rooms.
“The pods will be compatible with both video and phone calls and will be Wi-Fi-enabled so that passengers can continue to collaborate and be productive during flight,” explained Natlius in a release.
In first class, the seats will be ‘luxe, lie-flat,’ while economy seating will include an infotainment center, all enclosed in a cabin that’s 7.5ft tall with intelligent lighting to help minimize the effects of jetlag.
And that’s not all. Natlius has put safety first in regards to its blended wing body aircraft, implementing the use of eight exit doors, ‘with the possibility for carriers to opt for double doors’.
It can be customized too, to suit different airlines and customer bases – cool, right?
This isn’t the only revolutionary aircraft being created
The world of aviation is one that advances rapidly, with sustainability being the mission of many companies.
