Ferrari’s new 296 Speciale Piloti is so exclusive that you need a race license to get one.

Only those ‘involved in Ferrari’s official sporting activities’ will get to drive this car.

It was unveiled at the Circuit de la Sarthe, ahead of the Le Mans weekend.

Ferrari went on to win this year’s edition of the endurance race, so maybe it was a good luck charm?

When you think Ferrari, several things may come to mind.

Perhaps you’re envisioning the color red, which the Italian brand has long been synonymous with.

Or maybe you recall that iconic scene in National Lampoon’s Vacation when Christie Brinkley drove it along the highway.

Your mind may even wander to its winning streak at Le Mans, and the cars that have come off the back of that, like the Ferrari 499P Modificata or the F80.

The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale follows in a similar vein.

It was presented in Maranello on June 13, just ahead of the big Le Mans weekend.

According to the manufacturer, this car was made to celebrate the successes achieved at the FIA World Endurance Championship and to ‘honor Ferrari client racing drivers’.

“The unique specification, reserved for clients involved in Ferrari’s official sporting activities,” Ferrari said.

“Designed for those who live the track firsthand, this special livery and finish reflects the identity of a community of client racing drivers who actively contribute to Ferrari’s racing legacy.”

There are four racing-inspired colors on offer: Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour De Fracen, Nero Daytona, and Argento  Nürburgring.

And that’s not the only nod to racing.

The Speciale Piloti that was unveiled on June 13 bore the number 51 – this was the number that Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi claimed victory back in 2023.

This was also significant as being the year that Ferrari returned to endurance racing after a 50 year absence.

The Speciale Piloti has a unique look and personalized fittings, thanks to Ferrari’s Tailor Made program.

The interior is nicely decked out in black Alcantara, topped off with the fireproof fabric usually reserved for the drivers’ racing suits.

Ferrari didn’t skimp on any of the details when it came to this bad boy.
