This week marks the next chapter of the world’s most iconic endurance race.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the ultimate achievement in motorsport.
It helps form the ‘Triple Crown’ of motorsport – alongside the Monaco GP and the Indianapolis 500.
First run in 1923, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the oldest endurance race in existence.
Of course, Ferrari has been heavily involved in the iconic endurance race.
It’s the third-most successful manufacturer in the history of Le Mans.
Its 11 victories are bettered only by Audi, with 13, and Porsche, with 19.
It famously won five Le Mans victories in a row from 1960 to 1965.
The Italian marque, however, was forced to wait over 50 years to next taste victory on the track.
It’s been worth the wait, though, with Ferrari winning the last two races in a row.
So, naturally, the Le Mans circuit is the perfect place to unveil a truly special hypercar.
And Ferrari has done just that – throwing the cover off the successor of the ‘Big Five’ of Ferrari.
They are composed of the 288 GTO, the F40, the F50, the Enzo, and the iconic LaFerrari.
This brand new F80 is the successor to the crown – and it is truly epic.
The Ferrari F80 derives much of its powertrain from the 499P hypercar that represents the maker in the Le Mans race.
A twin-turbo, V6 hybrid powertrain produces a mind-boggling 1,200HP.
This makes the Ferrari F80 the most powerful, road-going model the marque has ever built.
The new hypercar represents the next stage of the brand’s progression.
It will be truly fascinating to see this car hit the track in full flow.
