After some research online, he discovered that a person with a similar problem was quoted $19,000 for repairs, but after purchasing a single kit for $80, he was hoping it was the solution to all his problems.
Instead of panicking like someone else trying to fix a Cadillac like this, he decided to 3D print the tools he needed.
It wasn’t going to be as straightforward as he hoped, but that’s never stopped this YouTuber and expert in the past.

The cheapest way to fix a Cadillac CTS V-Sport
Sam of popular car repair YouTube channel Samcrac recently purchased a damaged 11-year-old Cadillac CTS V-Sport.
After running out of gas on his journey home from the seller, a lot of the Caddy’s glaring issues became increasingly obvious.
The car had many aesthetic issues like a massive dent in the fender and scratched alloys, but the biggest issue with the car was its loose timing chain, which was causing the car’s engine to misfire.
After looking online and seeing that a dealer would charge $19,000 for a repair like this which would involve replacing the whole engine, Sam decided to take matters into his own hands.
The whole fix cost $80
Sam purchased a chain timing kit for $80, it included two tensioner arms, three tensioners and an equal amount of timing chains.
Instead of buying the tools to check the engine’s camshaft, Sam decides to 3D print them to save money, which in his case makes it free as he already had a 3D printer, we wouldn’t recommend this at home if you have to buy a brand-new 3D printer.
Once he identified the engine bank that was causing the engine to misfire, he replaced all three chains after fitting a new oil pump.
Installing the chains turns out to be the most time consuming part of it as it takes many failed starts to get the chains lined up.
Sam admitted that he had a lot of repairs to do like replace a cracked valve cover seal and replace the heavily scratched alloys, but for now he’s got a working 11-year-old Cadillac CTS V-Sport for only $8080 – an absolute bargain.
