Employee gets surprise of a lifetime after 40 years of dedication with 1972 Corvette

An employee was left flabbergasted when he was given a fully restored 1972 Chevrolet Corvette by his boss to thank him for 40 years of dedication.

Shipping and receiving manager Mike Boock worked at WCCO Belting in Wahpeton, North Dakota, for four decades.

He joined WCCO Belting when it was a small repair shop and was onboard while it grew into a multi-million dollar manufacturing company.

Initially working at the company part-time, Brook ended up carving out a long and happy career – something his boss thought was worth celebrating.

CEO Thomas Shorma, the son of founder Ed Shorma, decided to say a big ‘thank you’ to Boock for his efforts over the years. But a simple card wouldn’t quite cut it.

At the company’s annual Family Holiday Social, Boock was invited on stage, where he was presented with some gifts for his years of service.

Boock was handed a neatly wrapped box by Shorma and opened it up to find a cute model 1972 Chevy Corvette.

As Boock held up the model car to show his colleagues, Shorma told him to have a look at what was underneath it.

Tucked away inside, he found a set of car keys. A set of car keys to a very real, fully restored 1972 Chevrolet Corvette that was then driven into the room right in front of Boock.

The loyal employee began to get emotional as he shook his boss’s hand and opened the door of his new car for the first time. But who can blame him? It’s one absolutely stunning motor.

“I’m on top of the world,” Boock said. “I never expected anything like this. This is beautiful.

“It says a lot about the family and the family business, for them to do something like this for their employees. I really appreciate it.”

CEO Shorma said that celebrating and thanking his staff is important to him and something he’ll continue to do as the business goes forward.

“If someone is willing to dedicate forty years of his or her life to our family business, this is the least we can do,” he said.

How sweet is that?
