During its Q3 earnings call report, Elon Musk claimed that more affordable Tesla models are on their way and will launch in 2025, but there’s not going to be a non-robotaxi $25,000 model.

One of the company’s biggest downsides is that the upfront cost of its vehicles is quite high.

The Tesla Model 3 is currently the cheapest car in its roster and it sells for $42,490 before subsidies.

However, that might change next year as the company starts production of these new models.

Tesla’s third-quarter report states that it’s making “preparations” to offer new vehicles with “more affordable models.”

“Plans for new vehicles, including more affordable models, remain on track for start of production in the first half of 2025,” states the report.

“These vehicles will utilize aspects of the next-generation platform. As well as aspects of our current platforms and will be able to be produced on the same manufacturing lines as our current vehicle line-up.”

The EV maker has also reduced its production cost per vehicle to a record low of $35,100.

This means more affordable Tesla EV cars are on their way.

Elon Musk previously teased about these models way back at the beginning of the year.

When we heard about more affordable Tesla EV cars, the first thing that came to mind was the $25,000 model that was promised by the company way back.

However, Elon Musk poured cold water on that dream.

He explicitly rejected the idea of developing a conventional $25,000 car, calling it “pointless” and “silly.”

“I think having a regular $25,000 model is pointless. Yeah. It would be silly. Like, it’ll be completely at odds with what we believe,” said Musk.
