This Dutch village came to a standstill when the billionaire boss of Aston Martin sailed his new superyacht through its narrow canals.

Lawrence Stroll, the boss of Aston Martin, is the owner of a 259-foot Feadship boat, Project 714.

Given the boat’s huge size, it’s staggering to think that this was considered a modest downsize.

When it tried passing through the narrow canals of the town of Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands, though, nobody could say it was a ‘smaller vessel’.

How this Dutch village came to a standstill with the arrival of a huge superyacht in its canals

There are a few things that are guaranteed when it comes to superyachts.

One – they’re always super expensive, as was the case with this yacht that sold for $106 million.

Two – the word ‘luxurious’ doesn’t even cover how fancy they are, like the M/Y Kismet.

And finally, they’re huge.

All of the above features certainly applied when it came to Lawrence Stroll’s Project 714.

Feadship

If you can believe it, this isn’t even the biggest yacht produced by Feadship.

But still, it dwarfed the churches and houses as it passed through the canals.

Residents couldn’t help but stare in amazement, and could you honestly blame them?

The boat features several luxurious amenities, including a beach club with its own pool and what appears to be a helipad.

According to Dutch news site AD.NL, the ship was en route to Boskoop, Waddinxveen, Gouda, and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

It’ll also be making a trial run at sea sometime in the future.

Over on their website, Feadship raved about how the boat’s ‘sculpted curves and striking blue hull capture the essence of sophistication and style.’

Feadship

“True to Feadship’s reputation, every detail has been meticulously crafted to ensure unparalleled aesthetic appeal and performance.

“Naval architecture by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects further ensures her performance matches her graceful aesthetics,” the site continued.

All the best for an Aston Martin billionaire

Stroll, the boss at Aston Martin, is worth $3.9 billion.

With an impressive figure like that next to your name, you’d naturally want to spend a bit of your wealth.

Feadship

His previous superyacht was called Faith, and that 318-foot vessel cost $200 million.

It’s not publicly known how much this latest purchase cost Stroll, but we can’t imagine it came cheap.

But when you own a luxury car manufacturer like Aston Martin, what’s a couple hundred million?
