Drivers warned against following Labubu doll car trend after strange incident

A Californian car owner has issued a warning for anyone who wants to proudly display their collection of Labubu toys in their vehicle.

For those unaware, the cute monster toys have become a cult hit across the world.

Sold through China-based retailer Pop Mart, the Labubu dolls have caused a bit of a frenzy.

The toys gained widespread popularity after being seen hanging from a keychain of a bag belonging to Blackpink member Lisa.

While many collectors keep their Labubus on their handbags, or safely at home, there’s also been a growing trend of folks displaying them in their vehicles, a bit like the Jeep Ducking trend, you may have heard of.

There’s even a slew of TikTok videos showing motorists how to display their dolls in their cars.

However, one Labubu collector from California has now issued a warning on TikTok after her car window was smashed and the toys stolen.

In a post shared by TikTok user @thearmyofdos, the Lexus owner wrote: “NEVER leave a Labubu in your car.”

She shared a slideshow of images, which showed a smashed sunroof, broken glass strewn across the driver’s seat, and then a tow truck arriving to take her damaged car away.

The incident unfolded while the woman was shopping in a mall in California.

In a caption alongside her post, she urged other drivers to remove their Labubu toys from their cars.

“We lost our Labubu Hehe, from the Have a Seat series, What a Frog from the Cry Again series, and the blue Crybaby from the Cheer Up series,” she wrote.

“We also had a little seat that was hanging from the AC vent that we would sit the Labubu on and they ripped that off as well leaving scratches and chips on my vents.”

The trio of toys would cost around $172, a whole lot less than it will cost for the poor motorist to replace her smashed up sun roof.

The poster went on to say that they ended up getting their car fixed through their insurance but were forced to pay the deductible.

As for the toys, someone kindly replaced one of them but it seems like she’ll have to repurchase the replacements for the others.
