Drivers are only now beginning to realize what a small symbol on the dashboard of their car by the gas indicator means.

This is a small fuel logo on the dashboard of many vehicles, which, as it turns out, has a hidden meaning.

The logo provides a very useful bit of information whenever you take your car to a gas station. Plus, it saves everyone from getting confused about which pump to pull up to.

While you may know your own car inside out, the small arrow is very beneficial if you’re in an unfamiliar vehicle.

The arrow indicates where the filler cap is

The small logo is an arrow located next to the fuel pump symbol on the car’s dashboard.

What this does is indicate where the gas cap is on the vehicle you’re driving.

If it points to the left, it’s on the left-hand side of the car.

And, of course, if it is on the right, then the cap is located on the right-hand side of the vehicle.

This isn’t a new feature, as it has been on many a vehicle’s dashboard for years.

But it’s such a small detail that it makes sense that drivers are missing it.

TikTok users expressed surprise at the gas pump feature

Several users on TikTok have expressed their surprise at the feature.

One lady only became aware of it around five years ago.

While you may know where it is on your own car, if you have to hire or rent a vehicle, you may not know where the cap is.

Another TikTok user has been driving for over 40 years and only realized this around a year ago.

While it’s handy, a few did wonder how you could forget where the filler cap is located.

Manufacturers, however, must have realized that there are more of us forgetting than we care to admit.

So it makes perfect sense to have it as a feature.

First-time drivers are others who may not know where the gas cap is.

Knowing this feature exists saves fumbling around or pulling up to the wrong pump.

Sometimes, it is the smallest features that make the biggest difference.
