Inspired by the James Bond movie of the same name, the new DB12 is a double tribute.

It honors both the original DB5 from the movie and 60 years of partnership with the James Bond franchise.

Production is suitably limited to 60 units.

The DB12 Goldfinger Edition is a festival of Easter Eggs

The new Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition is packed with Bond-themed tributes and Easter Eggs.

Finished in Silver Birch, the signature color for the DB5, the car features ‘Q’ badges throughout, and seats styled to mimic Bond’s suits.

The 18k gold-plated accents on the gear selector and dial are a tribute to the golden tracking device used in Goldfinger.

The list goes on, with the ‘eight of hearts’ motif embroidered on the driver’s sun visor, which is a nod to Goldfinger’s Miami pool scene.

The connection with James Bond is one of many reasons why the DB5 is still the most iconic vehicle made by the British brand, and this new DB12 is a fitting tribute to both the DB5 and the movie.

Inspired by ‘the most important James Bond movie’ ever made

Goldfinger was only the third James Bond movie, and it’s based on the seventh novel written by Ian Fleming.

Even so, several people believe this might just be the most important James Bond movie ever, for two reasons.

Aston Martin

Goldfinger, starring Sean Connery as 007, was the first James Bond movie to win an Oscar and the first Bond movie to earn over $100 million ($125 million, to be exact) at the box office.

Side note, $125 million in 1964 was the same as $1.269 billion today.

Aston Martin

Goldfinger was certainly a big deal for Aston Martin because it marked the beginning of the partnership between the world’s most famous secret agent and Aston.

Daniel Craig, the last Bond, has driven a DB5 in three out of five 007 movies he’s starred in, namely Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die.

The list of names that have been mentioned to replace Craig is quite long, and it includes Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and – more recently – Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

No one knows who’s going to play Bond, but we do know he’s probably going to drive an Aston Martin.
