Connecticut has launched new pizza-themed license plates all for a good cause

Connecticut drivers are now going to driving around while sporting the State’s flagship claims, as charity-supported pizza-themed license plates are now available.

Many US states have hallmark license plates.

From the Alaska bear-centric plate to New York’s Statue of Liberty silhouette, the customization of the standard licenses has become much more prevalent in recent years.

Now, Connecticut – the Pizza capital of the United States – is joining in on the fun with a new doughy look.

Connecticut launches new Pizza license plates

There are a handful of license plates that sell for outrageous prices.

One person declined $10 million for one personalized set, while collectors cherish the likes of a Star Trek Enterprize plate and one that would look awesome on a Batmobile.

But some more fancy designs in the US take the focus away from the digits with fun backgrounds – Ohio’s Dolly Parton design, for example.

Now, the State of Connecticut has partnered with a foodbank to create a Pizza license plate, with all donations going to a good cause.

The design will see a gradient blue and white background drop behind your usual plate numbers, with an iconic pepperoni slice on one side and ‘The Pizza State’ written on the bottom.

It’s available to all Connecticut residents with a DMV registration, where the State will provide a new vanity look in accordance with your previous plates.

Not all proceeds will be going to the Connecticut Foodshare bank, but the initiative is aimed at raising awareness for those suffering from food insecurity.

People wanting to get the plates will also be prompted to leave a donation from the bank.

They are also in high demand. The State needed to receive 400 applications to begin the process but smashed that target by 150 percent on the opening day alone.

The plates will be one of many State-sporting designs, which will only continue to grow with the introduction of digital licenses in the future.

Now, that looks like an appetizing opportunity.
