The smartphone company’s EV has been very impressive, and the fleet as a whole has been equally impressive, particularly with the SU7 Ultra that went around the Nürburgring.

Xiaomi claimed that the YU7 Max had up to 466 miles of range, so it was taken on a highway run to see how far it could go.

The results were interesting and gave reviewers and customers the answers that they needed.

What was the official range of the Xiaomi YU7 Max?

According to Xiaomi, the car can go up to nearly 500 miles before it needs a recharge.

Chinese media company Sohu took the car on its test run to see if it could match or exceed its official range.

The team behind the test used a highway loop of 52 miles with the vehicle driven at the speed limit.

Temperatures were virtually perfect for an EV, and it ran with two people inside and some luggage.

Most EVs don’t meet their stated range, but China’s products have so far been very impressive.

Sadly for the YU7 Max, it didn’t quite attain its official range.

The EV just fell short of its range targets

Xiaomi lists the official range of the electric car at 750km, which is roughly 466 miles.

But during the test, the car got as far as 483km, 300 miles, before its range reached zero.

It managed to limp on for a further few miles, reaching 305 miles in total.

That is far below what the company claims to be the car’s maximum range.

Xiaomi

Sohu said that Xiaomi claims the EV has an 80-90 percent achievement rate with its range.

But the range test highlighted that the car only hit an achievement rate of 65.5 percent.

The difference between official range and real-world range is nothing new, but it is still a big drop.

On the flipside, should you run out of range in the YU7, it can charge from zero to 100 percent in less than 40 minutes!
