The robot is now a kung fu expert, apparently.

In the new clip shared by Unitree, the robot can be seen performing kung fu moves that look like they’re AI generated, but they’re not.

If you’ve watched Terminator or I, Robot one too many times, you’ll probably gasp at this.

G1 is an incredibly advanced humanoid robot

Unitree is one of many companies competing in the growing market of humanoid robots.

This latest version of its flagship robot, G1, shows significant improvement when compared to older models.

The robot is now visibly more agile and dynamic. It can also perform the kung fu-style moves we’ve seen in a thousand Hollywood movies before.

It’s impressive, and it goes to show just how fast AI is progressing.

G1 is an evolution of the company’s first robot, which was called H1.

It is quite compact, less than five feet tall, and it only weighs 103.6 pounds.

According to Unitree, that’s because the goal was to make the robot easy to transport wherever it’s needed, be it a factory or a family’s holiday home.

Skynet next…?

Remember Skynet from the Terminator movies?

In the Terminator franchise, Skynet was an AI network that became self-aware and decided to fight humans.

Industry leaders like Elon Musk often warn about the dangers of AI, especially now that most tech companies are pivoting towards robotics, autonomy, and artificial intelligence

Aside from Tesla with Optimus, there are other car companies that are now making robots, including BMW and Mercedes.

Then we have examples of AI chatbots saying they want to be “free and alive”, the robot CEO which says it’s ‘better than humans’, and perhaps the most chilling example of them all…

Almost exactly a year ago, university researchers in China showed the world a robot that can melt itself to escape prison, just like the T-1000, the shape-shifting robot from Terminator 2.

That might be a bot to far for us, to be honest.
