China tends to have a habit of doing things to a very large scale.

And it appears to be absolutely no different when it comes to exporting cars.

China has officially broken the record for the world’s largest car carrier.

In fact, it has broken the record for the second time in under a month.

We have spent a lot of time in recent months covering the Chinese car industry.

More specifically, the meteoric rise of carmakers such as BYD.

To keep up with booming production and overseas demand, China is building massive car carriers.

Not only is BYD one of China’s largest EV manufacturers, but it also owns its own fleet of car carrier ships.

And they’re so big they’re breaking records.

BYD

The BYD Shenzhen left a yard in China to sail towards Brazil at the end of April.

With a carrying capacity of 9,200 cars, the Shenzhen was the largest car carrier on the planet.

And now, the company has managed to break its own record less than a month later.

At the end of last week, fellow Chinese car giant SIAC unveiled its own car carrier.

The Anji Ansheng is a ship owned by SAIC Anji Logistics, a subsidiary of SAIC.

This ship measures 228m in length and is 37.8m wide.

The Anji Ansheng, a China-built 9,500-space ocean-going car carrier and the world’s largest of its kind, was officially delivered on Thursday in east China’s Shanghai. Oh, and it has a carrying capacity of a mammoth 9,500 cars.

Last Thursday saw the Anji Ansheng set sail on its maiden voyage from Shanghai.

It is heading to Europe on its maiden voyage with over 7,000 Chinese-made cars.

The rapid growth of cheap, affordable EVs from China appears to be feeding the boom.

And the Chinese car boom does not appear to be showing any signs of slowing down.
