Carlos Sainz secretly collects Ferraris but doesn’t want anyone to know

Carlos Sainz has raced some of the most incredible cars in the world – and that includes Ferraris, of course.

And the ones he keeps in his garage are just as awe-inspiring.

From a bespoke Ferrari Daytona SP3 to a Bentley Continental, his garage is stacked.

Naturally, he’s got more than a few Ferraris; however, he keeps them relatively hidden to avoid feeling ’embarrassed’.

Carlos Sainz is one of the most recognized and consistent drivers in F1 today, and he’s humble to boot.

While he’s raced for esteemed teams like McLaren and Ferrari, he’s far from flashy.

In a recent podcast interview, he revealed why he prefers to keep his appearances on public roads low key.

It’s typical for F1 drivers to build their personal car collections to match their track day beasts.

And Sainz is no different, with a whole fleet of Ferraris in his garage.

He has the Ferrari 812 Competizione, a ‘beast on wheels‘, as well as a Daytona SP3 with custom ‘Smooth Operator’ branding.

But the F1 driver goes to great lengths to avoid being spotted in his Ferraris, and is more likely to be seen in a very down-to-earth car.

Despite being a prominent figure in the world of F1, Sainz doesn’t consider himself a celebrity.

“I’m not some kind of Justin Bieber or anything,” Sainz said.

Even though he races on the world’s biggest stage, he actually hates calling attention to himself.

For this reason, he prefers using a simple Golf GTI as his daily driver: the same Golf that his parents gave him when he was 18.

So while he has a fleet of fancy Ferraris to choose from, he’ll only use them on special occasions.

“I feel embarrassed taking them out,” he said.

“People will say, ‘Look at him, all full of himself in his Ferrari.’ So I’ll just take them out secretly, and that’s that.”

That’s why we don’t take our Ferraris out either, for the record.
