This California woman found a Ferrari F40 on Craigslist and made an offer she’d been waiting her whole life to make.
Emelia Hartford described the F40 as her ‘ultimate dream car’.
As the last Ferrari that Enzo himself signed off on, the car carried a lot of significance for Hartford.
And now, at long last, it was in her possession.

This woman found a Ferrari F40 and was over the moon
To show she was serious about taking home this F40, Hartford decided to rock up in her wide-body Ferrari 458.
And she wore a Ferrari hat too for good measure.
“This might be the most expensive Craigslist meet-up in history,” she said.
There was always the risk that this may have been a case of ‘Too good to be true’, so Hartford had to go and check out.
The seller had put it online with a $5 million price, in what he described as a marketing stunt to attract attention.
It had evidently worked, as it’d drawn in Hartford.
And once she laid eyes on it in person, she was left gushing – it was beautiful.
“This might be the cleanest F40 I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” she said.
“This is beautiful, the red is so vibrant and clean.
“The front lip really looks immaculate, the condition of everything…
“It looks brand freaking new! Right off the lot, 1990.”
The car has 7,430 miles on the clock, has gone through five owners, and has a a spotless service history.
Hartford found out the highest qualified bid was $2.6 million, and she felt inspired to make her own.
She offered up her 458, her Lamborghini Aventador, and her home for the F40.
With an auction 10 days away, this didn’t leave enough time for all these assets to be liquidated.
So alas, it looked like the car would still be going up for auction.
Not that she was being facetious with her offer, she was being deadly serious.
“I appreciate them humoring my offer, which was real,” Hartford said.
“I would sell my house for an F40, but my house isn’t worth the same amount as the cost of a F40 right now.”
Many legendary cars have wound up on Craigslist over the years
This isn’t the first time that a car gem has been found on Craigslist.
There was this 1971 Corvette which went up for a very affordable price of $3,500, and the 1999 Porsche 911 which went for $6,000.
You never know what you’ll find when you go onto Craigslist.
