BYD Yangwang U9 spotted jumping over potholes and spikes
The BYD Yangwang U9 launched back in February 2024 and instantly became popular as the threatening Tesla rival.
It packs a punch, and you’ve likely seen it doing some tricks before, like that one time it was dancing out in the public.
We know how that sounds, but there’s more.
The Yangwang U9 EV can now also jump over potholes, road spikes, and any rough patches like a panther would.
Well, according to a new marketing video released by the automaker anyway.
This was when the car was actually on a track and not in a parking lot, by the way.
How it ‘leaps’ on the road
It’s all thanks to the unique Disus-X suspension, which allows it to leap for fixed distances at high speeds.
How high are we talking about?
The 1,287 horsepower quad-motor Yangwang U9 can reach a top speed of 243.5mph — but that wasn’t how fast it was going in the video.
Instead, the U9 was driving autonomously at around 75mph when it jumped over all those stretches.
Moreover, the third-fastest EV in the world jumped over a water-filled pothole as its front wheels went airborne first, followed by the rear set.
This gap was 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) long, and it cleared the entire thing almost too subtly.
Further, to demonstrate its height, it leaped over a bunch of road spikes that were 1.6 inches (3.5cm) tall.
Finally, there was a 13-foot-long (4-meter) stretch of multicolored dust, which the BYD Yangwang U9 leaped over and blew away.
All things considered, it’s like a James Bond car, but when it comes to practicality, where do you draw the line?
