YouTube channel Budget Buildz were the ones taking a look at this Bel Air, which had most definitely seen better days.

To say this 1955 Chevy had been ‘burnt to a crisp’ would be a severe understatement.

Its wheels had been melted and the car’s exterior had been left looking like a hunk of rust.

What sort of condition was this Chevy Bel Air in?

As you might expect, this car was not looking great.

Chevy cars from the 1950s are renowned for their color and class – none of that is evident from looking at this burnt out carcass of a car.

It’s always a sad sight to see a classic reduced to a crisp by fire – just take this 1973 Chevy Nova as a tragic example of that.

The tires are in a dire state and needed replacing – which was the first thing the Budget Buildz team got to.

Michael Wagner, the main host, said: “I guess it’s a race to save this thing, at this point.”

What was under the hood?

Once the team managed to get the hood open, they were met with a surprise.

Surprises aren’t unheard of when it comes to cars – Supercar Blondie herself discovered this whilst searching an abandoned Ferrari in Dubai.

Namely a high-performance 502 Big Block engine that was in remarkably good shape.

The engine was accompanied with high-quality components, suggesting that it was part of a well-loved project before the fire.

From there, Michael worked on getting the transmission cleared out so that he could refill it with fresh fluid.

A few checks and modifications, the engine was able to successfully start.

Whilst this is undeniably great news, there’s still a mountain to climb yet before this car is anywhere near ready for the road.

But Michael is feeling excited and optimistic about the future of this project.
