Bugatti launched the Veyron 16.4 in 2005, and it became an instant icon.

With a top speed of 253 mph, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is one of the fastest production cars in the world.

And now, this 2007 model has set an auction record after it sold for more than $2 million.

Bugatti made just 450 Veyrons across several trim options, including the Super Sport and the Grand Sport.

The 2007 model that went under the hammer during Bonham’s sale at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed was an original Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Coupé model, one of just 253 ever made.

And, as you might expect given its selling price, it was in tip-top condition.

Bonhams

The one-owner Veyron had fewer than 500 miles on the clock and was finished in Mocca Brown Metallic and White Coffee colorway.

Inside, the immaculate interiors are presented in Magnolia and Havana with comfort seats.

The car had been tipped to sell for a fair bit under what it ultimately sold for, but it attracted a flurry of interest that soon sent its price soaring – possibly due to it super-low milage and unusual color scheme.

In the end, it sold for £1,527,000, which is equivalent to just over $2.04 million.

Its staggering price has set an auction record, making it the highest amount ever paid for a standard-production Veyron at public auction.

Other models, like the Super Sport, have sold for more in private sales, but this is the record-breaker when it comes to public auctions.

It also goes to show that just because the original Veyron was launched a couple of decades ago, it’s still an incredibly desirable car for collectors.

The Veyron shook up the hypercar game

With the launch of the Veyron 16.4, Bugatti helped to redefine the car industry and shook up the hypercar market.

Bugatti developed almost every single part for the car from scratch.

Company executives came up with the idea for the most powerful road car ever built and that’s what they got.

The Veyron’s 8.0-litre W16 engine can crank out just shy of 1,000 horsepower and has 0-60mph time of just 2.5 seconds.

Which goes some way to explaining why the cars are still a dream for many collectors.
