Bugatti shows what the Tourbillon looks like stripped down to its bare chassis

Since the Bugatti Tourbillon has a new hybrid drivetrain, the automaker couldn’t reuse the chassis from the Veyron and Chiron.

After using the same chassis on two of its previous hypercars, the automaker went back to the drawing board.

The engineers did a great job packaging everything within the aerodynamic body of the Tourbillon.

Although the hypercar is not that much bigger than the Chiron, it does pack a lot of parts due to the hybrid system.

Since the Bugatti Tourbillon comes with a massive V16 engine and a hybrid system, the chassis needed to be stronger, fitter, and tighter.

Hence a new platform was exclusively for the hypercar.

And now we can clearly see the inner layout of the latest hypercar from Bugatti.

Other than the powerful V16 engine, the hypercar also features three electric motors, a dual-clutch transmission, a twin-motor front axle, and batteries.

Plus, the car also comes with eight radiators to handle such a force, five of which can be seen at the front of the car.

The electric systems alone take up a lot of room.

With the Bugatti Tourbillon, the engineers also moved the V16 engine closer to the rear bulkhead, with fuel tanks on either side.

The 24kWh batteries are configured in a T-shaped unit, able to power the hypercar for 37 miles.

With two motors on the front, and one motor in the rear paired with the V16, the car produces 1,775bhp.

The automaker also made many alternative designs for the Tourbillon that it didn’t eventually use.

The automaker also shared a video showcasing the design process of the hypercar.

“The Tourbillon is a statement of intent,” said the hypercar maker.

“The platform on which it is built marks a new chapter for Bugatti, one defined by unprecedented levels of optimization and performance,” they added.
