This is not just any old Bentley, it’s an extremely rare British version that is only one of 41 ever made.

He was devastated to learn he was too late to get to the junkyard in California and missed out on buying it, but he still managed to get his hands on it.

Somehow this right-hand drive British version of the car made it to a remote California junkyard, but after a customs disaster, a huge financial fallout and a lot of time and stress, it’s finally on British soil.

A British Bentley found in a California junkyard

Meet the 1967 Bentley Mulliner Park Ward T1 convertible, a very rare and limited edition Bentley that is only one of 41 ever made in the whole world.

Although this is clearly a British car with right-hand drive, it was somehow discovered in a California junkyard in the United States.

We are introduced to this special car because British actor Gary Mavers is a huge fan of classic cars, particularly British ones.

He owns two Rolls-Royce Corniche convertibles but is drawn to this specific Bentley for its rarity and authenticity. He admires the untouched originality of the one found in the California junkyard.

The eye-watering cost of shipping from the US to UK

Gary Mavers set off to the California junkyard to purchase the Bentley of his dreams, he was devastated to find out upon arrival that he was a little bit too late.

A man called Alex Manos had already bought it and inadvertently broken the British actor’s heart.

Alex was kind enough to sell the Bentley to Gary and he was over the moon, but this was before the issues of shipping it from the US to the UK began.

The Bentley was delayed for months.

It took six weeks for the car to even be loaded before it started its voyage to Liverpool, UK.

When it finally made it to the UK, the car was seized by customs, causing Gary to spend more money on getting it safely back to his garage. He worked out that the full shipping costs amounted to around $6,500.

Even though the car can’t drive, has heavy rear-end damage including a dislodged spring, but Gary is excited about the challenge that fixing it up will present.
