The BMW M3 CS Touring station wagon has just set a brand new track record at the Nürburgring, and it might be the coolest of them all.
BMW took the car to the Nürburgring with hopes of snagging a very interesting track record.
With development engineer Jorg Weidinger at the wheel, the company set out to snap up the quickest station wagon record around the famous race track.
Not only did the M3 CS Touring manage to do this, but it smashed the record by several seconds.

About the BMW M3 CS Touring track record
Weidinger was able to wheel the M3 CS Touring around the track in 7 minutes, 29.49 seconds.
This took the record away from the standard M3 Touring wagon, doing so by over five seconds.
For those who want to witness this feat, the Nürburgring and BMW have uploaded the whole lap onto their official YouTube channels. You can also check it out in the video at the top of this page.
Compared to supercars, it’s not the most incredible lap, as some can smash through the seven-minute mark.
However, for a station wagon, that is a seriously impressive lap time.
What is even more impressive is how fast the BMW was compared to other ‘normal’ cars.
What the BMW beat during its Nürburgring lap
The BMW was faster than the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, the Chevrolet C8 Corvette, and the previous generation of the BMW M5.
The wagon was also just half a second slower than the Nissan GT-R.
While it is an ‘extreme’ station wagon, it still has five seats, and the M3 CS Touring can fit in a lot of luggage.
Under the hood, the car has a turbocharged straight-six producing 543hp.
The transmission is an eight-speed automatic, and the extensive use of carbon fiber helps to keep the weight down.
Seeing the car being wheeled through the ‘Green Hell’ is one truly spectacular sight.
However, there is still no hope for buyers in the United States to get their hands on the car.
The car has not been homologated for US sale, but the possibility of the M5 Touring coming to North America is a silver lining.
