This 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe has been unearthed in a New Mexico barn, hiding a nice surprise under its hood.
Chevrolet launched the Impala in 1958 with an original production run which lasted until 1985.
The popular car has since been brought back between 1994 and 1996; and again between 2000 and 2020.
In its first year of production, 55,989 Impala convertibles and 125,480 coupes rolled off production lines – including the one you see here.

The 1958 Impala looks good despite years off the road
There are few things more exciting than discovering a hidden gem stashed away, such as the untouched Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari 308 a man found in his grandma’s garage, or this 1972 Lincoln Continental which spent more than three decades parked.
And over in New Mexico recently, a car enthusiast managed to unearth this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe.
It’s unclear how long the Impala had been off the road for before it was rescued but it appears to have held up in pretty solid condition.
The vehicle has been listed for sale on eBay by elpasoconnection, with a listing that describes it as ‘in need of total restoration and sold as is where is’.
The car has its original paintwork and would benefit from a respray.
It had a nice surprise waiting under the hood
The seller says that in 1970s, the Impala had its right front fender and left door replaced, while the interior was redone back in the 1980s – although it retains its original seats.
However, it’s what is under the hood that makes this find all the more interesting as the 1958 Impala has held onto its original 348 cubic-inch (5.7 liter) W-series Turbo Thrust V8.
Sadly, the Impala’s transmission has gone, so there’s no way of knowing exactly what state the engine is currently in.
The seller welcomes potential buyers to check it out for themselves before making an offer and is asking for $23,500 or thereabouts.
While the car likely needs a fair amount of work to get it back on the road, it could absolutely be worth it for the right person.
