Audi makes major change to windscreen wiper and indicator controls that more manufacturers could follow

Audi has made a major change to both its windscreen wiper and indicator controls, which more manufacturers could follow.

The company has switched up the placement of the controls in the front center console.

This change has made more room for something special.

And the new placement could mean other manufacturers follow the revolutionary design.

Audi is a well-known and coveted car brand.

From creating daily drivers to the R8, it has covered all kinds of spheres.

For example, it recently unveiled the world’s most affordable EV built for the next generation of drivers.

Plus, Audi’s unexpected AI technology could even reshape the way cars are built forever.

In fact, the company has just set a new standard when it comes to controls within the cabin – especially at the wheel.

The car manufacturer has revealed that the windscreen wipers and turn signal controls will be together on its new 2026 Audi Q3.

Audi

The car manufacturer itself stated:

“The new steering wheel control unit has great practical benefits. It integrates two new steering column levers for the first time, thus creating more storage space in the center console.

“The lever on the right serves as a gear selector, the one on the left as a control element for the light functions and windshield wipers.”

The new change opens up space within the cabin, which is a win-win.

Audi

“The elimination of the gear selector in the center console results in more space in the console with two cup holders,” the statement went on.

There is also a ‘cold inductive charging tray’ that boasts 15 watts of charging power, such as USB-C ports.

Other car companies could soon follow suit with the design that is set to be available on the new Audi Q3 model.
