As the Chinese EV industry continues to produce luxury vehicles, a video has gone viral showing how one American thinks this Li Auto L7 could ‘cook’ Tesla.

Ever since EVs went mainstream, Tesla has dominated the market.

No brand has sold as well as Tesla, even if some competitors have certain models that have been successful.

But China seems to be holding a lot of aces up its sleeve, one being the Li Auto L7.

American darlings like RAM have been icons for decades.

But China appears to have mastered the art of not only replicating these magnificent US cars but also building its own EVs to a – dare we say – better standard than their US counterparts.

In particular, the Zeekr 7X has recently made waves for charging technology that’s so quick it rivals filling a gas tank.

Now, though, one American man has showcased the luxurious Li Auto L7 – proving that this affordable car is quite the step up from your standard Chinese EV.

Taking to TikTok, and later circulated on X, formerly Twitter, user ‘Forrestautoreviews’ showcased the Li Auto L7 and its catalogue of impressive features.

The SUV boasts 700 miles of range, blind-spot displays, and a steering wheel HUD for ease of use.

The interior has built-in AI that allows you to use hand and voice commands for turning screens on and off, switching movies, or opening the sunroof.

You can also turn the interior into one massive flat unit with full-reclining front seats.

So if you need to relax for a while, you can lay back and slip Netflix on for a nightcap.

“If this car came to America, Tesla would be cooked,” the reviewer said.

The Chinese EV is just one of a huge range of Li models, although the L7 is one of the more popular.

The website currently lists brand-new L7s for as little as $41,000, with an ‘Ultra’ upgraded version being available for $49,000.

That’s a lot of bang for your buck, considering ESUVs like the Honda Prologue and Hyundai IONIQ 5 cost more.

The Chinese EV market has a lot of promise

The Li Auto L7 isn’t the only Chinese EV to be making a dent around the world.

Of course, BYD has started branching out globally, but other rival cars are on course to shock drivers, like IM Motors’ L6 with its crab-walk parking.

But it looks like US drivers wouldn’t mind seeing these Chinese EV models begin to make their way into dealerships across the States.

“I wish he said the price point and the year. Well worth it. I’m sick of these 100k cars that are actually 20k elsewhere,” one X user wrote.

“This is a great car we need this in the US it would definitely sell well,” another added.

Other drivers were skeptical about maintenance on a car so tech-heavy, especially if the brands don’t have specialist garages in the US.

Still, it really does go to show that Chinese EV models are becoming increasingly impressive.
