An American man buried his $100,000 BMW X6M for two years and was shocked by what happened when he dug it up
It’s the oldest trick in the book, but burying your assets to keep them safe only really applies to small, near-and-dear belongings that fit into a bag.
But this six-figure BMW X6M got some severe treatment, being shoved into a hole, only to be dug up years later.
What the owner dug up was quite a shock, though.

For most, the BMW X6 range is as good as it gets – even the Supercar Blondie team loves the series, and recently one member showcased his X6 M50i fluorescent yellow spray job.
But for content creator Hoovies Garage, the X6M just wasn’t ‘it’.
The ‘annihilated’ car had a plethora of issues, ‘barely drove’, and wasn’t worth much a scrap. So instead of shipping it to the junkyard, he buried it.
Two years on, and it was time to see what the BMW had been doing in its soil-atary confinement, as he dug it back up.
It’s safe to say that its condition couldn’t have been much worse.
The first giveaway was the sinkhole that had appeared over the ‘X’ that marked the burial spot.
Only one thing makes the ground suck in: Water.
Lo and behold, when the excavator began taking chunks out of the ground and found the car, it was swallowed up by a pool of mucky liquid.
If the YouTuber had some misguided hope that the pirates had been at the BMW in its underground hiatus, he was soon brought back down to earth. This definitely wasn’t buried treasure.
The excavator continued to damage the already obliterated bodywork, making sounds that would send shivers down the spine of any car lover.
Some cars have managed to start after being sentenced to years under mud and earth.
So, could this BMW X6M?
Once out on the land, the creator pulled in the help of ‘Car Ninja’, and shockingly, there was still some life left in this soggy car.
The lights flickered and some electrical buttons managed to stir, but it looks like this car is destined for the trash.
It begs the question of why he bothered to dig it up in the first place.
The fable will likely end here – unlike this rare Ferrari that overcame a remarkable history to get another shot on the road.
