The Alpine A110 is a truly special car.

Initially produced from 1963-1977, the A110 captured the hearts and minds of fans across the globe – much like the Alpenglow you can see in the video above.

It was revived by the company in 2017, and was immediately lauded for it’s fun factor.

Now – sadly – it is in its last year of production, with a special edition being released to celebrate the occasion.

Alpine – the little French sports car that could

When it was initially released, nobody could have imagined that the Alpine A110 would achieve what it did.

It was released in 1963 in the stunning, post-WWII ‘Berlinetta’ style, meaning a two-seater coupe.

Initially, the Alpine A110 was powered by a Renault engine that produced just 51bhp.

However, by it’s end in 1977, the little sports car evolved into possessing an engine producing 180bhp.

This engine increase led to phenomenal success in the World Rally Championship for Alpine.

In 1971 and 1973, the French brand secured 1-2-3 podium lockouts in the Monte Carlo Rally, powered by it’s Renault 16 engine.

In 1973, it also won the inaugural constructors’ World Rally Championship, defeating giants such as Ford, Lancia, and Porsche along the way.

Sadly, by 1977, sales had massively declined due to advances made by rivals, and the Alpine struggled to keep up.

This led to the A110’s demise.

The legend lives on: A110 revived

Thankfully, the legendary car was revived in 2017.

The covers were thrown off the new generation car at the Geneva International Motor Show in March of 2017.

The new car was powered by a Nissan 1.8 liter, turbocharged inline four engine, producing 249bhp.

After being produced in several different (and brilliant) variations, Alpine announced that – sadly – 2025 will be the last production year for the A110.

But not before going out with a bang.

The French brand has announced a limited edition A110 R 70, a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Alpine brand.

It inherits the A110 R’s 1.8 liter, turbocharged inline four engine, producing 297bhp.

It is also dressed from head to toe in carbon fiber.

The coolest touch though, is the decoration, with a special Alpine 70th anniversary logo being mounted on the front fenders, door sills and headrests.

There is also a monogram of the French tricolore on the pillars and door cards, with a numbered plaque being added as well.

Those who want to buy the special edition A110 can choose between ten exterior and four interior colors, combined with seven available shades for the brake calipers as well.

The A110 R 70 will be produced in a limited run of 770 units.

As for the cost? Well, you’re looking in the territory of $128,500.

Cue La Marseillaise!
