Abandoned Ford Bronco sat in bush for 20 years basically has its own ecosystem

This abandoned 1978 Ford Bronco spent so long parked outside that it had practically started to develop its own ecosystem.

The poor old Bronco had been left parked in some woodland for 20 years.

As you’d imagine, over that time frame nature had done its thing and now the car looked as though it was merging with the vegetation.

The owner of the Bronco wanted to restore it, but first, he needed the help of a detailing expert who could give it its first clean in decades.

The Bronco was covered in moss and fungus

After 20 years outside, the Bronco ended up in the very capable hands of Mitch better known as The Detail Geek on YouTube.

You may remember Mitch as the guy who once found a gun stashed away in a filthy Ford F-150.

Fortunately, there was nothing quite so dangerous or dramatic tucked away inside the rotting Bronco – just plenty of spiders and moss. Wonderful.

After he opened up the passenger door, Mitch was shocked to discover ‘dozens upon dozens of spider nests in the door jams’.

He also spotted what he believed to be a former mouse nest and droppings in the back of the Bronco.

And the outside hadn’t fared much better, either.

“With the Bronco having sat in the bush underneath a bunch of trees for the last 20 years, it’s got an enormous amount of what looks like moss and fungus growing all over the exterior – so much that it looks like it was supporting its own ecosystem,” Mitch noted.

And he’s not wrong – a quick glance at the vehicle reveals moss covering just about every surface.

But although it seemed like a daunting task, Mitch didn’t shy away and got stuck in returning the Bronco to its former glory.

He bust out the pressure washer and heavy-duty cleaning solution to blast away years of dirt, grime, and moss.

Mitch used a powerful degreaser on the hood and roof to help tackle the moss, but even with the strong cleaning agents, he was still forced to use a steamer to remove the rest.

He then turned his attention to the interior and was able to vacuum out the debris inside, before giving the Bronco’s leather seats a nice deep clean and removing them so he could clean the floor and get it ready for de-rusting.

Very satisfying.
