A new BMW M3 CS Touring is on the horizon, with more power than ever before.
More importantly, BMW also put the M3 Touring on a diet.
The combination of more power and less weight is almost always a good thing on a car.
This is certainly no exception.

What we can expect from the BMW M3 CS Touring
The CS version of the M3 Touring is set to debut this year, around three years after the launch of the current model, and around a year after the sedan model.
BMW teased the new performance-focused wagon with a couple of videos, but hasn’t actually shared that many details about it.
However, we do know it’ll be lighter than the previous model, and it’ll feature plenty of carbon fiber.
The new M3 CS Touring should use the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six as the sedan model, which means it’ll have at least 543 horsepower.
The bad – but predictable – news is it won’t be that cheap.
It’s easy to predict a price tag with at least six figures.
What’s going to happen with the M3?
BMW said the future isn’t looking good for manual gearbox lovers, but the automaker isn’t ready to give up on internal combustion engines yet.
But, like very nearly every other company in the world, BMW did say it’ll build more EVs in the future.
No model is exempt, including of course the M3, which will debut with an electric engine later this year.
But the arrival of an electric M3 will not kill the gas M3, at least not immediately.
Having said that, we’re probably not going to be able to enjoy M models without any form of hybridization for long.
