The movie, about an older driver proving his worth on the track, turned out to be the blockbuster of the summer.

Brad Pitt blown away by F1 track

To the envy of motorsport fans everywhere, Brad Pitt got the real-life experience of being a Formula 1 driver.

Production of the film F1 saw Pitt and his co-stars travel across the world to partake in the pageantry.

Having experienced everything from Bahrain to Miami, Silverstone to Austria, it could have been difficult to pick a favourite circuit.

But Brad Pitt has finally revealed which circuit made him feel completely different from the rest.

Speaking to the F1 Beyond The Grid Podcast, Pitt revealed that Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium is the winner.

F1 Movie

Pitt spoke incredibly highly of Silverstone and Abu Dhabi, but nothing could compare to Spa-Francorchamps, AKA Eau Rouge.

“But the highest of highs? Spa. Oh my God! It’s such a smooth, graceful feeling.”

Pitt elaborated on what makes Eau Rouge so remarkably special to him.

“We went to the bottom of Eau Rouge. Tim Bampton from F1 took us down to the base of Eau Rouge, and he said, ‘Turn your backs, just look up the hill and wait’. And the cars come right by the wall.”

“Fernando [Alonso] went by, and it literally sucks the air out of your lungs. It is unbelievable. It is unbelievable.”

F1 tells the ultimate comeback story

F1 sees the creation of a fantastic story of redemption and comeback.

Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, an itinerant race car driver who has just won the Daytona 500.

Thirty years prior, Hayes emerged as the next big prodigy for Formula 1, only to be forced into retirement following a horrific accident at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.

Javier Bardem plays team owner Ruben Cervantes, and he offers Hayes one last shot at the big time.

Hayes is brought into the fold at the struggling APXGP team in order to mentor young driver Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris.

Pitt and Idris both drive F2 cars that were liveried to look like actual F1 machinery.

The Hollywood star finally got a chance at the real thing during a McLaren test at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.

It came ahead of the United States Grand Prix, and also directly ahead of the movie hitting theatres.
