Hyundai has revealed its second high-performance EV at Goodwood – and it looks very familiar.
Two years ago, Hyundai unveiled its first-ever high-performance EV, the Ioniq 5 N, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Fast forward to the present day, and the second one is being unveiled in an almost identical fashion.
And that’s not the only thing that makes this seem like history is repeating itself.

Hyundai have revealed their second high-performance EV at Goodwood
It was just two short years ago that South Korean manufacturer Hyundai revealed its first high-performance EV at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.
The Ioniq 5 N would go on to be named 2023’s ‘Car of the Year’ by TopGear, and it’s easy to see why.
That wasn’t the only accolade it received – The Sunday Times called it a ‘breath of fresh air’, whilst Car Throttle deemed it the ‘first truly great performance EV’.
A lot of high praise, right?
So as you might expect, the pressure would be on Hyundai when it revealed its second high-performance EV.
The Hyundai 6 N was revealed at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, echoing the reveal of its predecessor.
And that’s not where the similarities end either.
Whilst the cars do have some differences – the 5 is more of an SUV, whilst the 6 is more of a sedan – the two cars do work with similar set-ups.
They both have the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and deliver practically identical performance levels – top speeds of 161mph and capable of reaching 62mph in 3.4 seconds.
The 6 N piques the 5 ever so slightly at 3.2 seconds, but who’s counting?
The Ioniq 6 N has motors on both axles, delivering 223hp at the front and 378hp in the rear, making for a combined 601.
For periods of up to ten seconds, it can reach 641hp when N Grin Boost is activated, autoevolution reported.
It’s not yet clear when the Ioniq 6 N will be available to buy or how much it costs, but we can speculate on both fronts.
What we do know is that when it comes to the American market, it’ll be available in six colors.
These include: Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Nocturne Gray Metallic, Nocturne Gray Matte, Gravity Gold Matte, and the new Performance Blue Pearl.
EVs are on the rise wherever you look
The Ioniq 5 N and 6 N are just two parts of the ever-moving EV story.
Electric cars have come a long way since they were first released.
And the ascendancy of electric cars isn’t slowing down any time soon.
In Norway, 97 percent of all cars sold are electric, which is an incredible figure.
While the equivalent figure was only 10 percent in the US, one study found more than 70 percent of US motorists are either ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to go for an EV for their next car.
It’s expected that one in four cars sold in 2025 will be electric – and this figure will be 40 percent by 2030.
For all we know, we could be seeing the Ioniq 7 N by then.
