This Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a whopping 666,255km (413,991 miles) on the clock – almost enough to drive to the moon and back.

Hyundai unveiled its Ioniq 5 EV in February 2021.

It was the first vehicle to be released under Hyundai’s Ioniq sub-brand.

The EV – and the Ioniq range – has been a hit for Hyundai and it’s not hard to see why, especially when you get the sort of mileage that this one Ioniq 5 owner has.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has racked up some serious mileage

The Hyundai Inoiq 5 has proved itself to be a very reliable car – one man even tested the theory by taking his on a coast-to-coast road trip across the US.

But even the miles he managed to put on the clock, pale in comparison to how many this South Korean Ioniq 5 owner has hit.

The car’s impressive milestone was posted on a Facebook page where motorists show off their high mileage, but it wasn’t shared by the EV’s owner.

The post didn’t reveal which particular model of Ioniq 5 the man owned, but did share that it had managed an incredible 580,000km (360,395 miles) on its original battery.

The poster explained that owner was a salesperson, which goes some way to explaining how he clocked up all of those miles.

When that battery finally went kaput, the owner says Hyundai replaced it for him free of charge.

The fact the motorist was given a new battery is a bit unusual.

Hyundai does offer battery warrants in most markets, but it’s typically capped at 10 years or 160,000km (100,000 miles)- a whole lot less than this one has done.

Perhaps Hyundai was happy to reward the owner for his impressive achievement. Or maybe he’d anticipated his high mileage and forked out for an extended warranty.

With his new battery installed, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is still very much out and about and picking up even more miles.

Since it’s had its new battery fitted, its odometer has hit 666,255km (413,991 miles) in just three years and five months.

Crunching the numbers, that’s a daily average of around 541km (336 miles) per day – or 16,250km (10,097 miles) a month.

That’s almost the same distance as driving to the moon and back and it most likely won’t be too long until the Hyundai Ioniq hits that milestone.
