Here’s the rub: he’s never even stepped on board.

He’s taken $2 million off the $38 million that he paid.

Certainly not resting on his laurels, he’s already got a larger vessel under construction at the shipyard.

The millionaire is getting rid of his superyacht

Tommy Allen is director of global operations at Five Oceans Global Solutions, a company ‘dedicated to uncovering the mysteries of the sea’.

The 174-foot (53m) Five Oceans superyacht was initially designed for a three-year oceanic research mission – however it felt too cramped for the entrepreneur and his family.

He was prepared to drop $2 million off the $38 million he had paid – asking for just $36 million from potential buyers.

He’s opting for a 197-foot (60m) vessel instead with 2.5 times the volume.

Speaking of large superyachts, the biggest in America is not owned by Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Bezos but by the co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin.

And since it was built it has undergone some remarkable changes.

What Five Oceans has to offer

The original Five Oceans was designed primarily for cutting-edge underwater research and discovery.

After two years of planning and development, it began construction in December 2022.

With around 500 GT of volume, the OG Five Oceans accommodates a maximum of 10 guests with a 10-person crew to serve and sail.

The embodiment of Damen Yachting’s signature sleek silhouette it features a nine-meter beam, vast aft deck, ample storage for tenders and submersibles – and even a 15-ton crane to lower them into the water.

It’s powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce MTU engines, allowing it to hit a top speed of 19 knots.

A cause close to Allen’s heart, the yacht was designed with sustainability in mind.

In fact, during full-range operations emissions are reduced by 70 percent.

It’s currently docked at Port of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France, according to Marine Traffic, this exceptional vessel is waiting for a new owner to write its next chapter.

Meanwhile in London, a 400-foot-long $360 million superyacht owned by a sports billionaire has received major attention on the River Thames.
