CEO, Elon Musk, made an unforgettable entrance.

Optimus humanoids danced and served drinks.

Here’s the tech news we’ll take away from the tech event of the year.

As well as arriving in one, Musk brought along 50 Cybercabs to the eagerly-anticipated event, held at the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California.

Fans were able to give them a try after months of waiting for information.

Needless to say, they weren’t disappointed.

Musk said Tesla would have unsupervised fully autonomous vehicles – the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, out and about on the road in California and Texas just next year, and that the Cybercab would go into production before 2027.

He also revealed that the EVs would be available to buy and would most likely cost less than $30,000, with an operating cost of around $0.30 per mile.

Although there are other automated taxi firms out there such as Zoox, Tesla is seemingly hoping its reputation for autonomous driving – thanks to its Full-Self Driving (FSD) – will set it apart.

Tesla

The autopilot system has previously been shown to be effective at navigating complicated situations, and even reportedly saving a man’s life.

Of course, Tesla is in a prime position to mass produce such a vehicle, giving the firm an edge over the competition.

It was also revealed to have an automated cleaning-system, using vacuums and UV sanitation to clean between rides.

Charging will be inductive, requiring no plugs, Musk explained.

The new ‘high density’ Tesla Robovan which can transport 20 people was also unveiled at the Tesla We, Robot event.

Its boxy shape in silver with black accents and stripe-designed headlights and taillights make it look like something from a futuristic video game.

Whether you need a minivan for school or a cargo vehicle, it seems like the perfect fit complete with comfortable seating and a spacious interior.

Musk added: “

He also added: “We want to change the look of the roads.

“The future should look like the future.”

Optimus Gen 2

As well as Optimus humanoids dancing and serving drinks, Optimus Gen 2 was unveiled.

Musk said the humanoid bots will be able to ‘do anything’.

He also believes that their price point of below $30,000 will make them a huge seller.

The Optimus will walk amongst you,” Musk quipped to the crowd.

“You’ll be able to walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”
