Expensive cars can make for excellent gifts, but this YouTuber went all-in and restored a good-for-nothing Lamborghini Urus because his girlfriend loved it.

Well, she only fell in love with the SUV after he got it, but a bit of extra motivation never hurt anyone.

The Urus, however, was an ambitious project for two reasons.

He had never worked on a car like this before, and it was in extremely bad shape.

The YouTuber here is Mat Armstrong, who you might know as the man who fixed Marcus Rashford’s Rolls-Royce.

It was a Mansory-built Rolls-Royce, which the footballer had wrecked — so Mat helped him out by restoring it.

However, Mansory later asked to return the car so it could implement some fixes as a gesture.

Although Mat successfully restored the Rolls, a Lamborghini Urus is a wildly different vehicle.

Mansory also made an Urus, by the way — and it was the world’s first two-door Urus.

While the Urus is practically an Audi RS Q8 with a Lambo wrap, it’s a hard-to-repair SUV.

Mat worked with his father to get it working again, and the duo managed to get it running in two months.

For context, the SUV was in pretty bad shape and completely wrecked from the front.

They had to take the engine out, fix it, and put it back again to make it driveable again.

Now that the core machinery worked, it was time for the interior and bodywork.

They further restored all the airbags, some of which were quite hard to tackle but not impossible.

Before ticking off the interior as restored, Mat wanted to look at the internal system’s fault codes — which actually showed a long list of errors.

This began a series of seatbelt fixes, which required the disassembly of almost all the interior.

Moreover, it was not an easy task because they had to take apart several things just to reach some screws.

It all worked out eventually, and the inside of the Lamborghini Urus was finally complete.

It certainly wasn’t the end of it, though — in fact, far from it.

The Urus didn’t look like an Urus, so Mat got several exterior replacement parts and started putting them together one by one.

This step should have been quite easy, but there were problems here, too.

After an endless number of fixes, it finally looked like a complete car.

Mat even went the extra mile to install a widebody kit because he wanted the car to be perfect so he could give it to his girlfriend.

The end result looked fantastic, and you couldn’t tell it was absolutely wrecked before.

It wasn’t exactly a relaxed project, but the Lamborghini Urus turned out to be a worthy gift.
