It’s always a satisfying sight to watch an iconic (and neglected) sports car come back to life, and this abandoned 1977 Porsche 911 Targa getting its first wash in 20 years proves that fact.

You know, this machine had it rough because it had been sitting in one place in the middle of a forest for decades.

Time is often cruel to cars parked out in the open, and this, sadly, was not an exception.

However, you can practically restore anything these days — all with the help of some modern cleaning tools and skills.

The guys at the AMMO NYC detailing firm got their hands on this abandoned Porsche 911 Targa sitting in a forest, which they showed in a YouTube video.

When they found it, the car was sitting beneath a tarpaulin sheet — which was hiding an incredible Talbot Yellow finish.

While you couldn’t tell how bad its condition was at first glance, the actual disaster was hiding inside.

Its exterior was actually in decent shape, and the factory paint outlasted a more modern repaint on the hood.

The interior, however, was the real deal — it was rat-infested, rusted, and brimming with mold.

Abandoned cars usually have it rough, whether it’s something like this Corvette abandoned for a decade or something as extreme as this neglected Dodge Challenger for 40 years.

Although the YouTubers sorted out the exterior in no time, the insides took quite a lot of effort and patience.

They had to remove the destroyed seats, revamp the panels and floor mats, and get everything back to shiny once again.

Be that as it may, a power wash or clean isn’t all there is to a restoration.

But these guys knew this, so they freed the seized engine and decided to restore the entire thing.

After all, a 911 Targa can take your breath away if it’s in great condition — check out this example with just one owner for 51 years if you don’t believe it.

The Porsche 911 Targa was packing a 2.7-liter flat-six that sent out 175 horsepower.

After spending not-so-few hours, this Porsche 911 got a second chance at life and looked beautiful once again.

Some things were left to be desired, but these guys would probably take care of those.
